Our family has traditionally frequented Sears' stores. The Sears' at Governor's Square Mall in Tallahassee, Florida, has definitely made money off this family. Several years ago Mama bought all new towels for the family home at Sears. She spoke with a sales assistant and made sure she bought towels that would last for years. I'm sure she told the assistant about the towels in our home that had survived my parents entire marriage (which, at that time, would have been about 30 years). Seeing "Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back" as she left Sears' made Mama satisfied with her latest charge on the Sears' Card.
Well, after awhile, she wasn't exactly satisfied. Over the course of several months Mama could do nothing but think of those towels as she passed under the words "Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back." Cynthia doesn't leave anything undone, and believe me, she works on something until she IS satisfied.
TWO YEARS after buying the towels Daddy watched Mama drag two black trash bags full of 24 month old towels to her car. The trash has been Daddy's job ever since Jacqueline moved out of the house so naturally he asked, "What in the world are you doing?"
"I'm taking these towels back to Sears. Everytime I see the sign that says 'Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back' I think of these towels, and I am not satisfied. So, I'm going to get my money back."
"Cynthia, we have had those towels too long for you to take them back...." I can only imagine the conversation between the two. However it went, Daddy went back to watching television, and Mama loaded up the car. Thank you Lord, she did not make me go along!
Mama will have to tell you the rest, but I can tell you she has some beautiful towels that came from Sears and are in great condition. My mom is the only person I know that would return bath towels after two years of use. Unbelievable!
